Soprano Sandra Campbell has been seen in over 60 Houston Grand Opera mainstage productions as a chorister and principle artist including Carmen, as Frasquita, The Coronation of Poppea as Valetto, and as Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro. Sandra served as Executive Director of Houston Grand Opera’s Opera to Go! and toured in nine productions with the company, including Hansel and Gretel as Gretel, and The Magic Flute as Pamina. Additional opera credits include Adina in The Elixir of Love with Beaumont Civic Opera, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte. Sandra’s musical theatre credits include Anne in A Little Night Music, Luisa in The Fantastiks, Laurie in Oklahoma, and Rosamund in The Robber Bridegroom. Sandra has also appeared as a soloist in Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, the Vivaldi Gloria, Handel’s Messiah, Saint-Saens’ Noel, Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass, Gabriel in The Creation with the Houston Choral Society, and most recently in the premier of John Cornelius’ Fulfilled!. Sandra is the creator of Houston Grand Opera’s Storybook Opera, an educational program celebrating its 22nd season; in 2012, Sandra was invited to The Park Avenue Armory in New York City to perform her composition, Itamar Meets a Rabbit to NYC area students. For the last 12 years, Sandra has served as soprano soloist at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood with Dr. Todd Miller, Dr. John Cornelius, and Dr. Rob Hunt, where she also leads the Children’s Choir program. Sandra’s training included 6 years in the vocal studio of W. Stephen Smith, preceding his professorships at Julliard School of Music and Northwestern University. Recently, Sandra was invited to teach in the Broadway Legends Workshop in San Angelo, lead by Broadway veteran, Angela Brooks. Sandra loves teaching voice, and playing a role in assisting area students in realizing their artistic goals. She now resides in Kingwood, TX with Coy, her husband of 36 years. Liv, their 24 year old daughter, is a graduate of University of Evansville Theatre in Indiana, and recently moved to NYC to pursue a career in acting.
